As manufacturer, we stand behind our machines for the long term

A custom machine is not a one-time delivery but a long-term partnership. As a German machine manufacturer based in Arnsberg, we take responsibility for conformity, warranty, spare parts supply and modernization over the entire lifespan of your plant — typically 10 to 20 years.

These manufacturer obligations are more than a marketing promise: the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC requires the manufacturer to retain technical documentation for 10 years after placing on the market. The Product Liability Act holds the manufacturer responsible for serial defects over the entire service life. And your production needs a partner who can still supply spare parts and plan modernizations in 5, 10 or 15 years.

Manufacturer Obligations under Machinery Directive

What a responsible manufacturer must deliver — and we deliver

CE

CE Conformity per 2006/42/EC

Every delivered machine carries the CE mark and is handed over with a Declaration of Conformity per Annex II A of the Machinery Directive. This is not optional: without correct CE marking, commissioning within the EU is legally inadmissible and creates a liability risk for your operation.

RA

Risk Assessment per EN ISO 12100

Before the CE mark comes the risk assessment. We identify hazards, evaluate them quantitatively and define protective measures — mechanical (enclosure, emergency stop), functional (safety PLC, light curtains) and organizational (operating instructions, training). The result is handed over as a documented hazard register.

TF

Technical File — retained for 10 years

Circuit diagrams, bills of materials, acceptance protocols, EMC measurement reports, risk assessment and documentation of all safety-related components are retained for at least 10 years after placing on the market — as required by the Machinery Directive. On request from market surveillance or in liability cases we deliver the documents within days.

NP

Nameplate and Serial Number

Each machine receives a permanent nameplate with manufacturer, year of construction, type, serial number and connection data. Via the serial number, we can always assign the original configuration, components used and documentation — the basis for spare parts and proof obligations over years.

Warranty, Service and Support

What happens after delivery — short-term and long-term

WG

Warranty and Guarantee

Statutory 24-month warranty after acceptance is standard. On request, we arrange extended warranty (up to 60 months) including defined response times for malfunctions. Serial defects are always covered — even after the warranty period expires.

RS

Remote Support via VPN

Through a secured VPN connection we access your control system, analyze faults, change parameters or install software updates. This saves travel time and resolves most issues within hours. Access rights, logging and your approval processes are aligned with your IT security policy.

OS

On-site Service

When remote is not enough, our service technician comes to you. We cover the German-speaking region with agreed response times from 24 hours. For critical production, inclusion in our on-call pool is possible — around the clock, 365 days.

MC

Maintenance and Service Contracts

Planned maintenance instead of ad-hoc firefighting: in a service contract we define inspection intervals, test scope, spare parts stock and annual budget. You secure availability and cost stability — we know your machine inside out over the years.

Retrofit and Modernization

Extending service life instead of replacement

CR

Control Retrofit

Obsolete PLC systems are replaced with current platforms. New operator panels, remote capability, modern visualization — without touching the mechanics. Typical investment is 20–40 % of a new purchase, with productivity gains through better diagnostics and higher availability. Technical base provided by steuerungsbauer.com.

MM

Mechanical Modernization

Replacement of worn drives, conversion of manual axes to servo motors, retrofit of new tool changers. We analyze the machine, propose the most economical modernization and implement it predictably during your production downtime.

SR

Safety Retrofit

Machines from before 2010 often no longer meet the current state of safety technology. We assess your plant against EN ISO 13849-1 with PL evaluation, upgrade it and issue an updated Declaration of Conformity — so your authority cannot issue complaints.

FR

Third-party Retrofit

We also modernize machines from other manufacturers — provided access to technical documentation is available. If the original manufacturer no longer exists or has discontinued support, we take over as the new partner: documentation, spare parts, service under our serial number.

Spare Parts and Documentation across the Lifecycle

Making availability predictable — 10+ years

SP

Spare Parts Availability 10+ years

For each machine we define a spare parts package: wear parts, critical components, manufacturer-specific special parts. When a component is discontinued by the supplier, we inform proactively and propose a compatible successor or stock buildup.

DA

Documentation Archive per Serial Number

Via your machine's serial number we can retrieve circuit diagram, BOM, acceptance report and software status even years later. This also applies when the service technician changes or your plant moves location — the file remains digital and complete.

SB

Software Backup and PLC Image

With every software change we store a backup. After a power failure, hardware replacement or accidental deletion, your machine is back to its original state within hours. For safety-critical plants we offer software version control with change log.

TU

Training and Updates

Personnel changes on your side mean loss of know-how. We train new operators and maintenance staff on your specific machine — on-site or via video session. Operating instructions are maintained when standards change or you modify the machine.

The Lifecycle of an Evotec Custom Machine

Three phases, one manufacturer

1

Manufacturing and Commissioning

Design, manufacturing, assembly, factory test and delivery with CE package. In the first weeks after production start, we accompany your plant intensively — fine-tuning, parameter optimization, training. Mechanics: sondermaschinenbauer.com, electrics: steuerungsbauer.com.

2

Regular Operation with Service Backup

Over years the machine runs in your production. We stand by with remote support, spare parts, scheduled maintenance and fault response. Every change is documented, every spare part installed with full traceability. Your production manager knows: the manufacturer is reachable and accountable.

3

Modernization or Replacement

After 10 to 15 years the question arises: modernize or replace? We provide the decision basis: condition analysis, retrofit offer, comparison with new investment. Often a retrofit doubles the service life for 20–40 % of the new price — predictable, without production loss.
